Sandford C. Cox
From Black Hawk Slept Here
Sandford Cull Cox (July 1, 1811-October 4, 1877) wrote a collection of articles that was published in 1860 as "Recollections of the Early Settlement of the Wabash Valley." It is often referred to as "Old Settlers" for short.
Much of his life was spent in Tippecanoe County, Indiana. It was in the Lafayette Daily Courier, a newspaper of that county, that some of the articles in Old Settlers first appeared.
The book is the source of several anecdotes about the Black Hawk war scare and of people who served in various Indiana militia companies during the war.
